My traveling and going out started after COVID. The first problem I faced was seeing so many options on the food menu, which quickly confused me. Juice bars offer 100+ drinks, and restaurants offer 20+ options, yet you have to choose one or two items.
Suppose I’m in the mood for pasta. How can I find the best pasta near me?
Three options:
- Check Google ratings.
- Look for Facebook food reviews.
- Ask a friend.
But, the problem is: - Google only shows restaurant ratings, not specific food ratings.
- Facebook isn’t a user-friendly option for finding reviews.
- Friends might not know or might not be fans of pasta.
Another issue arises when traveling to new places—choosing hotels based on budget, activity plans, food plans, etc. There are so many options!
These are the issues that made me think, “I wish there were an app for everything!”
An app where I can filter for the best pasta spots, find a single-room hotel within my budget, plan activities, and much more—from doctors to electricians.
Yelp definitely motivated me to shape this idea.
I started taking notes whenever I had an idea related to this. I even came up with some advertising ideas too.
While planning to develop this app, the first problem was that the budget was beyond my capacity. So, I started looking for app development courses to learn programming and build my own app. Luckily, I found a government-funded Flutter course one day and joined immediately.
However, I got distracted for a while.
A few months later, I shared my plan with Nobel and Akash. After some back and forth, we made a deal: Nobel would develop the frontend of the app for 20K + 20% share, and Akash would manage the backend for 10K + a share.
As expected, I got busy with my business, Nobel with his other projects, and Akash with his full-time job.
Since we met regularly, I kept pushing, which led to a pretty good frontend of the app. Now it’s Akash’s turn to develop the backend, and once that’s done, the app will be ready.
Though ‘Shark Tank Bangladesh’ rejected my application, I believe that as soon as the prototype is ready, I will fund this little startup on my own. Once I have a decent user base, I’ll seek additional funding and fully commit to it.
Let’s see where luck takes us.
