Happiness

I’ve been noticing people’s thoughts about happiness for a few weeks.
Honestly, most people are not happy with their situation. Everyone wants something, desires something that will make them happy.
Who earns 1 lakh tk, thinks a couple more lakh will be his happiness standard. who has 2 shopping outlets, thinks having three more and he will be happy. Businessperson, student, or journalist, everyone feels USA is where their ultimate happiness is. It doesn’t matter if they earn 50k – 5 lakh here, at the end of the day, they cherish the American Dream.

I see my father as a happier person. He doesn’t have a bigger ambition. He is happy where he works for 20 years. He is a religious person. So, what he does is pray for a good life, be happy with less, and rely on GOD for everything along with hard work. It really amazed me that, the proper application of ISLAM in life, can really help a person to be happy.

I also noticed that, most of the time I’m not happy because I miss something or someone from the past. Thinking about not having the chance in the desired uni or not being with the person I like bring bitter feeling, make me sad.
Also, thinking about the future, and desiring things make me choppy.
Between old thoughts and future thoughts, I lost my present moments. I failed to enjoy the cold wind before the rain, known faces around me, delicious fruit I am having.

This is why, now I try to be present at the moment. Instead of traveling past/future, I try to enjoy the beautiful weather, relaxing on the hammock, and smell of books.

It’s not an easy job to be present at the moment. Brain always tries to run like barry allen, trying to move between times and make a mess in head.
